Our First Newsletter!

This newsletter is provided to our customers so you utilize our capabilities, gan the most benefit from our supplier relationship, and stay abreast of the changes being made at Post Precision. As we move through the second quarter of 2008, I am pleased to report our Company continues its strategy of constant improvement and the pursuit of excellence.

We have additional manufacturing capacity available at Post Precision. We are actively seeking additional investment casting work. Our current lead times are 6 weeks for standard alloys (not requiring machining or non-destructive testing). We realize the high importance being placed on on-time delivery performance (OTP), and are managing the company to meet customer OTP requirements. With continued emphasis on OTP, our in-house machine shop continues to be more attractive to customers seeking a turn key operation.

Our customer continue to rely on us for excellent quality and to verify the integrity of our castings. While we continue to serve the commercial investment casting marketplace, during the past several years we experienced an increase in customers purchasing castings with non-destructive inspection and other test requirements. Recently, we organized Post's testing equipment into a single Technology Center. The Center houses our spectrographic equipment, mechanical and physical testing equipment, non-destructive testing, measuring equipment, and all of our technical information. We also purchased and installed magnetic particle inspection equipment in the center. Aee the article by Greg Raudenbush, Quality Assurance Manager, for more information on the Technology Center.

I am happy to announce our production and maintenance employees ratified a successor collective bargaining agreement on March 26th, 2008. The new agreement extends into mid-May 2012.

I invite all customers to visit the Post Precision facility. Tour our plant, Technology Center, machine shop, and discuss how Post Precision can meet your investment casting needs.

Quality Corner

Over the past decade, Post Precision has expanded its work mix to include more "high end" commercial type castings, includeing requirements for both destructive and nondestructive testing. In more recent years, this type of work has become "th norm" as opposed to the exception.

In the past, Post accomplished the testing requirements by utilizing both in house capabilities and external lab testing sources. External sources, while convenient at times, create longer lead times, and in many cases, more expense and added cost to the final product. With a continues increasing amount of hi specification work and the continually increasing expectations of ALL customers for a quality prodcut, Post Precision has kept pace with the curve by adding to our in house capabilities.

Our new Technology Center houses all of previously owned equipment as well as some new additions. All testing performed at Post is done in this room - from process control of waxes and slurries to OE Spectroscopy and corrosion testing. Mechanical testing includes tensile, charpy impact and hardness testing. We are also equipped to perform NDE by liquid penetrant and magnetic partical examinations. The area is rounded out by a complete metrology are to include a FARO Gage portable CMM unit.

Engineering Corner

As mentioned several times already, we are making some pivotal improvements here at Post. Not only will these changes improve our quality control department, but will also help in engineering as well. Our engineering staff, including Greg Raudenbush who has spent time in engineering has 43 years combined foundry experience. Our junior process technician, Darryl Sheidy has 20 years with Post and is coming up on one year as a junior process technician. Our engineering staff works very hard making improvements to our current process. We are currently evaluating through LEAN ways to improve our process through the ceramic department concentrating on procedures, technique and quality. This improvement is necessary for the future growth and our constant requirement to elevate quality standards. We know this is a WIN-WIN for Post and our valued customers.

All quotations are received through sales or engineering. We are working very hard to be cost competitive within the industry. Our engineering staff reviews each quotation to find the most efficient method to process your casting from the tooling to shipping, keeping quality our number one achievement. Without our customers, we wouldn't be here and for that we thank you. Please feel free to contact me with any casting needs.
